This is a 5-day residential course designed for either the newcomer or existing manager who feels they would benefit from learning up-to-date practices in golf club management.
The course lecturers are mainly serving managers of many years’ experience, supported by specialists from outside the Association. The aim being to show how different it is to run a golf club as against other businesses.
A Certificate of Attendance is given to each attendee which is recognised by clubs who see the benefit of employing people who have attended this course.
Our training course would usually cover the following:
General: Introduction to the manager’s duties & a priority checklist of legal and important tasks
Golf Course: Discover the importance of grass to the game of golf! Also included is a half-day practical session at a local golf club assessing the course
Golf Club Accounts: Daily and annual procedures - Budget forecasts - VAT – includes notes on partial exemption for golf clubs
Food and Beverage: Do you know how these areas should make a contribution to the club’s financial status? In-house or outsourced – benefits and disadvantages
The Law: Legal issues most frequently face at the golf club; Equality Act, Premises, Driven golf balls, Course (buggies), negligence & nuisance, Licensing Act
General Club: Office procedures for the golf club office
Administration: Competitions and handicapping system - Amateur status - Role of the County and National Unions - Rules and Local Rules
Computer Management: An overall look at computer management in clubs, and an IT policy
Membership Software: How membership software can support the club using integrated IT packages
Education: Information on the GCMA Membership structure and CDP credits
Marketing: How to gain extra revenue for the club
Employment Law: Workshops highlighting problems and their solutions under the current legislation
Health & Safety: Using a Safety Management System in a golf club including risk assessments - Advice and support available to GCMA members
Computer Management: An overall look at computer management in clubs, and an IT policy
Membership Software: How membership software can support the club using integrated IT packages
Education: Information on the GCMA Membership structure and CDP credits
