Decisions on the Rules of Golf

This is another official publication from the Royal & Ancient Golf Club, and is an essential tool for providing clear answers to practical problems encountered when playing golf. Each Rule is printed in full followed by a Q & A section which provides the correct interpretation of the Rule.

At £14.99 it is highly recommended that each club has at least two copies; one for use by administrators/referees etc and one for settling disputes at the 19th!

Decisions on the Rules of Amateur Status

Whilst the rules of amateur status are included in the Rules of Golf publication, this booklet gives clear explanations on the interpretations of these rules in a read-easy format of questions and answers.

The booklet is a valuable source of reference for all administrators, officials and organisers and sponsors of amateur events.

The Rules of Golf

Produced by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, and published through sponsorship from Rolex. This publication is simply a must for all golfers to have on their person whilst playing the game of golf.

The current edition is effective as from 1st January 2004. The R&A carries out a quadrennial review of the Rules. It is therefore unlikely that the next publication will be available before 2008.

The Standard Scratch and Handicapping System

This booklet gives clear and precise instructions on how the unified handicapping system should be monitored and maintained, how standard scratch scores are calculated, and what procedures are required regarding competition play.

This booklet is an essential requirement at every golf club, and it is recommended that at least 4 copies be purchased to give assistance to the Secretary, Handicap and Competitions Chairman, Ladies Section and the general membership.

This publication, effective from 1st February 2004, replaces the previous edition of the Standard Scratch and Handicapping System (claret coloured version) which becomes obsolete and should be disregarded.

The new booklet is produced by the Council of National Golf Unions (CONGU) and is available from the Secretary Mr Kevin McIntyre, Dromin, Dunleer, Co. Louth, Ireland. Copies are approximately £2.00 each.

Guidance on Running a Competition

Child Protection Procedures

This booklet is produced by the English Golf Union and gives straightforward advice regarding best practices that should be applied to avoid or limit the possibility of abuse.

The booklet also makes recommendations on how to recognise abuse, deal with suspicions or allegations, as well as identifying the responsibilities of staff or volunteers.
