Penwortham Golf Club is one of Lancashire’s most vibrant golf clubs. It is a challenging parkland golf course with 18 USGA greens and a testing par of 69. In existence for over 112 years, it is a member’s club on the banks of the River Ribble with stunning views over the course from the modern clubhouse and veranda. It is an engaging club which has a passionate playing membership of over 600, plus 200 social members.

The club is considered to be one of the friendliest in the area and has thriving Men’s, Ladies’, Seniors and Mixed sections with internal competitions throughout the year and representative matches against other clubs across the Preston, Southport and Fylde districts.  We are also proud to be part of the prestigious Lancashire Classic tour which takes place annually in early July.

We wish to recruit an Executive Manager whose primary focus will be to lead the implementation of the club’s strategic plan, develop and expand marketing channels, improve existing and create new income streams.  The successful candidate will also be responsible for the day to day management of the club and delivery of member services including bar, catering and office management.

Our ideal candidate will possess the following attributes/skills:
  • Pro-active commercial approach to drive member recruitment, visitor revenue and other business opportunities.
  • Forward thinking, with the energy to promote the club to the wider community while retaining the interest of the current membership. Ideally with a good knowledge of and creativity in marketing (especially in the digital and social media arenas).
  • A broad knowledge of, and interest in, all aspects of golf. The ability to work collaboratively with the wider team to continually improve the presentation and experience of Penwortham Golf Club for members and visitors alike.
  • Excellent leadership skills, the ability to inspire and co-ordinate our enthusiastic course and clubhouse teams who work together to make Penwortham an engaging, vibrant club.
  • Organisational skills to manage the day to day running of the club’s office and services within budgets set by the Board of Directors.
  • Sufficient financial acumen to oversee the club’s day to day IT and Financial systems and transactions, with knowledge of SAGE accounting, or a willingness to acquire it.
Remuneration

The salary is negotiable dependent upon experience plus potential performance related bonuses (based on business results) and an attractive benefits package including 28 days leave; free healthcare scheme; matched pension contributions.
