Role and Responsibilities

The role is to support the strategic vision of the Executive Committee to grow and improve the Club by being a focal point for the day-to-day management of the Club:

Managerial responsibilities
  • Acting as the focal point of the club; managing the bar/catering, greens, administrative staff and maintaining close liaison with the Club Professional.
  • Manage all duties and issues relating to growing Club Membership and maintaining the Handicap Database using industry software.
Financial responsibilities
  • Oversee the input and maintenance of accounts and day to day financial records of the Club including submission of returns to HMRC, VAT, payroll systems and all other tax liabilities, including:
    • Payment of supplier invoices using Club bank facilities.
    • Production of management/financial reports using Xero financial software.
    • Operation of the payroll system including NI/PAYE.
    • Management of Direct Debit payment scheme for membership subscriptions.
  • Act as Company Secretary for Upavon Golf Club Limited.
  • Undertake a periodic review of statutory legislation.

The Experience and Skills required

The following skills are required of the Club Manager.

Evidence of these skills and experience should be highlighted in your CV and covering letter and if you are asked to attend an interview you should be prepared to offer verbal evidence of these qualities.

You must have
  • Managerial experience in the leisure industry with a membership element, ideally in the Golf industry.
  • Management of ‘club’ accounts in terms of the duties outlined above.
  • Experience of middle level management of up to 10 staff.
  • Marketing experience which evidences growth of a membership type organisation.
  • IT user experience with IG plus good skills in Excel and Word.
  • Ability to edit and update a website and to construct social media messaging.
  • A hands-on approach to management.
  • Strong people management and inter-personal skills with diplomatic and effective and communication skills.
Remuneration

This position comes with a competitive salary (dependent on experience) with free golf membership.

No relocation package is available.
