The GCMA East Midland region recently held its inaugural East Midland Open Quaich tournament. Regional manager Rod Savage reports on a brilliant event and a notable achievement for the region's captain, Andy Mee... What an excellent way to start our inaugural open Quaich team AM-AM, held at Hollinwell on June 28, with our regional captain Andy Mee celebrating a hole-in-one on the famous 13th hole. 52 players contested this event on one of the finest courses in Nottinghamshire, with local teams being joined by others from Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Yorkshire and Northamptonshire, amongst others. Some excellent scores were returned on the day with the winning team of Andy Mee, Andrew Thompson, David Dalby and Adam Dalby (pictured above) scoring 86 points, pipping Neil Wallace, Stuart Finlay, Neil Summerfield and Paul Nixon (below) on countback. Third place went to David Waite, Andy Grimmitt, Geoff Howes and Andrew Cornish.
