GCMA 2023 Conference: ‘You will return to your club invigorated with new ideas’

GCMA board members have had their say on the value of attending Conference — and you still have time to sign up

The GCMA 2023 Conference is almost upon us, with all the learning, development and networking opportunities it will bring.

This year’s event — which is open to members and non-members — boasts a stellar line-up of keynote speakers, a wide range of breakout sessions, and some superb entertainment at a first-class venue to top it all off.

Here, several GCMA board members share their views on why attending Conference is such a valuable experience.

Judy Barker, General Manager at Sandy Lodge GC

“Having attended many GCMA Conferences, I can honestly say they are the best way to learn. From the education seminars to networking with colleagues old and new, there is huge value to be found there. You appreciate that you face the same challenges as your peers and are therefore not alone, and you have the opportunity to relax away from your workplace for a couple of days to recharge your batteries. You will return to your club invigorated with new ideas. If you only learn one thing, it will be something beneficial you remember and look back on.”

Ed Richardson, General Manager at Hankley Common GC

“Just two weeks now until the GCMA Conference. I’m really looking forward to going and catching up with fellow managers and other people who work in the golf industry. It’s a fabulous couple of days. For those who haven’t been, I thoroughly recommend you attend. There are lots of great networking and education opportunities, and a choice of various sessions you can attend. There are lots of group sessions as well where we get really good speakers. It really is a fantastic few days so if you haven’t already signed up, I thoroughly recommend you do. We’ve got really good take-up on numbers, but there’s still a few spaces left, so if you haven’t yet signed up, please do so.”

Scott Clark, General Manager at Boyce Hill GC

“Attending Conference has always provided an excellent opportunity to establish new networks, underpin existing relationships and enabled me to exchange ideas while taking on board new ones through the various breakout sessions. I’ve always returned to my club feeling invigorated and motivated to put into practice what I’ve learned.”
