The Club:

Our stunning 18-hole course was originally conceived by renowned golfer and architect James Braid, whose other designs include Gleneagles, Carnoustie and St Enodoc. Tiverton has always been regarded as one of Devon’s finest parkland courses, and with recent improvements, can now boast that it is arguably the best parkland course in the South West.  We currently have a full membership. The Club’s ethos is for continuous improvement supported by a rolling 5 year Strategic Development Plan.

Responsible to:

The Club is managed by an active Management Committee of seven, headed by the Chairman to whom the Secretary will report.

Responsible for:

The Club Secretary is responsible for managing and optimising the resources of the Club within the strategic framework set by the Management Committee.


  • Provide leadership, direction and support to all reporting staff, ensuring they are  appropriately trained and fully conversant with the technical aspects of their job and relevant Health & Safety requirements.
  • Provide support to the Management Committee to ensure full compliance with legal and corporate requirements.
  • Provide a complete range of administrative support to the Management Committee and Sub-Committees.
  • Manage all administrative aspects of the Club including budgets, finance and membership.
  • Ensure that all aspects of internal competitions and visitor events are organised and administered in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Ensure that regular communication with Members, through personal contact and electronic communications, is effective and relevant.

Working pattern:

A flexible working pattern is expected with hours to suit the successful applicant.  On occasion, this may include weekend working.
