The Club:

Furness Golf Club, is the third oldest links in England and is beautifully situated close to the Lake District within the Furness Peninsular. Founded in 1872, the course is bound to the west by the Irish Sea and is a magnificent 18-hole test of links golf where every hole is different. Furness Golf Club is an England Golf venue, recently hosting The English Boys County Finals and the Northern Seniors Championship along with County events and fixtures.

The Role:

A rare opportunity exists at Furness Golf Club, for an outstanding and ambitious manager to lead and implement changes to our management and operating methods. We seek an experienced golf club manager to help build on the club’s historic foundations and take us to a new level of effectiveness.

The Candidate:

The successful candidate will report to the Executive Committee and be a driving force for change leading all aspects of day-to-day management and implementing strategies for course improvement and the increase of sustainable revenues.

Applicants should demonstrate experience of:

  • A working knowledge of running a golf club from day-to-day
  • The ability to efficiently organize the management and administration of golfing activities
  • An understanding of golf course maintenance and improvement processes
  • Business and financial acumen
  • Leadership, motivational and communication skills preferably within a private members club
  • The use of social media to promote club activities
  • Compliance requirements including Health & Safety and Employment matters.

Key objectives:

  • Improve the management and development of the course
  • Increase visitor numbers and course utilisation
  • Drive growth and retention of membership
  • Optimise all aspects of clubhouse use

Remuneration:

The position offers a negotiable competitive salary plus commensurate benefits.
