The Club:

Mid Herts Golf Club boasts a beautiful heathland course and is one of the oldest clubs in the country. Established in 1892 and designed by the legendary James Braid, we are proudly member-owned, with over 800 members, including a vibrant junior section of 80+ young golfers and the largest intermediate section (ages 25-40) in the region. It is a club filled with charm, history, and community spirit.

In October 2023, we welcomed a new chairman and board, who are passionate about driving several exciting improvement projects. These include building a state-of-the-art indoor golf studio, creating a warm and inviting hospitality strategy with a comprehensive clubhouse refresh, and hiring a new PGA professional. It’s a thrilling time to bring your expertise to our team and shape the future of our club.

The Opportunity:

As General Manager, you’ll play a crucial role in managing daily club operations and leading our dedicated team. You’ll ensure that we provide outstanding products and services in line with the strategic vision of our board.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Excellence – Create a premier golfing experience for our members, visitors, societies, and competitors, fostering participation, satisfaction, an attractive offering for prospective new members and retention.
  • Event Management – Organize and deliver high-quality functions and events that engage our community, achieving high levels of participation and satisfaction.
  • Financial Stewardship – Oversee the club’s finances with diligence and integrity.
  • Team Leadership – Offer guidance and support to all staff, ensuring they are well-trained and capable, meeting the membership’s needs.
  • Board Support – Serve as company secretary, supporting the board in complying with legal and corporate requirements.
  • Comprehensive Administration – Manage all administrative aspects, including accounts and membership.
  • Effective Communication – Foster strong, regular communication with members through personal interactions and electronic communications.
