The Club:

Located in the heart of the countryside at J3 of the M50 on the South Herefordshire/North Gloucestershire borders our Golf Club is a beacon for golf enthusiasts, known for its exceptional course, great facilities, and the high quality of service provided to our members and guests.  We are committed to maintaining the tradition of golf while innovating and improving our services to meet the modern demands of golfers and guests.

The Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead our club into the future to work with its delivery teams and its members towards ensuring its commercial success and reputation. This is a pivotal role in our business, requiring a multifaceted approach to leadership, management and vision. The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our operations. This position demands a leader who can inspire a team, drive business performance, and ensure the highest levels of satisfaction among our members and guests.

Key Responsibilities:

The commercial management of the Club, in accordance with the plans and policies determined by the Board of Directors, to include:

  • Customer experience -to maximise the enjoyment and satisfaction of all users of the club including members, visitors, guests and event attendees.
  • Revenue maximisationfrom all revenue streams including membership, societies, visiting parties, bar and catering and functions.
  • Commercial control- of the Club, premises and facilities in line with the business plan and budget.
  • Resource planning to deliver cost effective and efficient support services to members, societies, visitors, event attendees and users of the Club.
  • Staff management and motivation- (including office, bar & catering, greens staff) in accordance with all relevant HR Legislation, policies and personal development plans.
  • Facility management and technology optimisation- to ensure assets are maintained and enhanced and IT systems/digital channels are utilised for operational efficiency.
  • Health, safety and environment management- to protect employees, members and visitors in accordance with all relevant Legislation and Club policies.
  • Membership Administration

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in a general management role, preferably within the golf, leisure, or hospitality industry.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Excellent financial acumen, with experience in budget management, financial planning, and reporting.
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement effective business and operational strategies,
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with members, guests, staff, and stakeholders.
  • A passion for golf and an understanding of the golf industry and its trends.
  • A track record of enhancing customer experience and driving business growth.
  • Experience in overseeing marketing with an innovative and creative flair.
  • History of event management, including bar and catering operations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of current Health & Safety requirements and awareness of employment law within our industry.
