The Club:
Situated within the 500 acre Wollaton Park estate a mere 3 miles outside Nottingham City Centre, Wollaton Park Golf Club is widely recognized as the premier course in the Nottingham area, boasting magnificent views of the 16th century Wollaton Hall and a mature parkland setting. The park is also home to red and fallow deer who roam freely and are a regular feature of a round of golf at the club. Set down on the local sandstone, the course is free draining and has an excellent record of playability.
The club has a thriving membership in all categories and is rapidly approaching the centenary of its founding in 2027, which is certain to be an exciting year.
The Opportunity:
The Club is looking for an experienced General Manager who will ultimately have responsibility for the smooth running of the Club. Reporting to the Board of Directors (via the Chair) the successful candidate will work closely alongside the board to determine, prioritise and deliver on the strategic aims of the Club. The Manager will lead a committed team of individuals whose aim is to provide the highest standards of service to the Club membership, visitors and guests.
The Role
Day to Day responsibilities include:
- The efficient presentation and running of The Course, Clubhouse and all other facilities including our hospitality offering
- The welfare, management and leadership of the team
- Internal and external communication, including marketing and promotion of the Club
- Monitoring and management of Budgets and Financial reporting and ensuring fiscal targets are achieved
- Ensuring Compliance in all statutory, legal and health and safety matters
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- A strong and demonstrable track record of management and leadership within the sports / hospitality sector, and preferably a good understanding of membership run organisations such as a golf club.
- Good commercial acumen backed up by a sound understanding of finance and budgeting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A commitment to the highest standards of customer service
- A flexible approach to the working week, as some weekend work is likely to be a requirement of the role
