Your club can help support wounded veterans with this simple gesture

Some of golf's biggest stars are backing a campaign asking clubs to donate one fourball to a charity auction... Could your club spare one tee-time to help support wounded veterans? Some of the game's biggest names have come together to back the National Golf Club Challenge, which is asking all 2,500 of the UK and Ireland's golf clubs to donate one midweek fourball to their spring auction. Now in its 13th year, the NGCC is raising money for On Course Foundation, the charity that supports wounded, injured and sick Service personnel. Its spring auction is one of its most popular fund-raising events and, with support from the likes of Sir Nick Faldo, Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter, Sam Torrance, Wayne Riley and many others, NGCC wants to engage every golf club in Great Britain and Ireland to help them with their fundraising efforts. “We’ve raised over £2.5 million to help our wounded veterans over our 13 years, with fantastic support from a huge number of golf clubs and golf industry friends,” said Stacey Jeffries, founder of NGCC. “This year we want to smash our previous efforts by getting every club involved. A small contribution can make such a big difference to our veteran’s lives, so I reached out to a number of our well known supporters to ask for their help. "There have been so many golfers, commentators, celebrities, and sporting stars that have recorded short videos for us. I’ve been overwhelmed by the response.” You can watch the campaign video here, and Stacey added: "This is such an easy thing to do for any club. A simple cross through one midweek tee time can make a massive difference,” added Stacey. “Funds raised this year goes towards supporting On Course Foundations 2023 veteran recovery program, so whether you’re a 9-hole municipal, or a Major venue, adding a fourball at your course to our auction will help in the recovery of some of the most incredible people you could ever meet.” Any club willing to donate to the NGCC spring auction should contact Stacey at [email protected] Do you subscribe to the GCMA’s weekly E-newsletter?
