Saunton Golf Club is a very successful members club on the coast of North Devon with two championship links courses which are both in the Top 100 UK rankings, making it one of the most prestigious 36 hole links golf clubs in the UK.

The club has hosted many major Amateur Championships over the years, including most recently the English Seniors Championships in 2017.  The British Boys Championship will be at the club in 2019 and each year the Army Golfing Society holds its annual Championships at our club. The English PGA Championships will be held on the recently extended West Course at Saunton in June 2018 and the club is graced with having the successful 2017 PGA Cup winning Captain Albert MacKenzie as its senior Club Professional. The ability to understand the needs of and communicate effectively with key people in organisations such as England Golf, The R & A and the PGA is an essential requirement of the General Manager.

For many golfers Saunton is high on the list to visit and we have many individuals and golf societies who make regular annual trips to our club to play. The club has a relaxed informal atmosphere and is a hive of activity. The effective management of large numbers of visitors and playing members through the administration office is a key responsibility of the General Manager. There is a huge range of golfing abilities to look after, all of whom deserve equal respect in our busy club.

The funds generated from the successful operation of the club are reinvested in continual improvement to the courses, clubhouse and other facilities. The club wishes to appoint a forward thinking and dynamic individual who is committed to the continued effective management of the club and has the ability to drive future developments.

Applicants will be expected to have:

The desire to relocate to an area close to our club to allow proper discharge of all the duties involved.

Ultimate responsibility for around thirty staff in total in the areas of the administration office, bar and catering facility and greenkeepers.

A proactive commercial approach to maintain and grow membership and green fee income, having very sound administration and IT skills and knowledge of social media. Experience of Croft and Intelligent Golf would be an advantage.

Good business and financial management skills including a good understanding of Catering and Bar operations and the ability to work with the committee to develop the social side of the club.

An understanding of all applicable legislation, regulations and best practice and the appreciation of golf and its rules together with the traditions and ethos of a private members club.
