Young Managers’ Group

The GCMA Young Managers Group was formed to allow like minded individuals to get together and discuss the golf club management industry from the perspective of a young manager. We are looking for members of the group to be aged under 40, and we would like the the group to be as diverse as possible in terms of geography and professional backgrounds. You do not need to be a member of the association, but you should be working in the industry, or a related role (greenkeeper, professional etc), and have an interest in golf club management.

This year the Young Managers Group will operate in two regions – North and South – to try and make sure that at least one meeting a year is geographically convenient for most people. The meetings will remain free to attend for early bird bookers, and will include a working lunch.

The Northern region will be coordinated by Martin Robinson (Fairhaven GC) and the Southern region by Chris Fitt (Foxhills GC), and we are delighted to have them more closely involved in the group. The group is still also being generously supported by Colt Mackenzie McNair.

2017 Meetings

Le Golf National

An exciting opportunity for members of the GCMA Young Managers’ Group to visit Le Golf National – host of the 2018 Ryder Cup, during the 2017 Paris Legends Championship on the European Seniors Tour.

Exactly a year out from the 2018 edition of the Ryder Cup, Le Golf National General Manager Paul Armitage will host 8 members of the group, offering a unique glimpse into what goes on behind the scenes of a major tour event, and giving the chance to discuss how Paul and his team are preparing to stage the biggest event in world golf.
Whether you currently host elite amateur events, or would like to work at an Open Championship venue one day, the trip offers the chance to witness the hosting of a tour event first hand. The schedule has been designed for anyone who currently (or has ambitions to) works at a venue that hosts similar events.
