We are closely monitoring the Government’s business rates review, with emerging developments offering some early reassurance for the golf and wider leisure sector, hear more from CEO Tom Brooke on the very latest:
We are very aware of the considerable concerns amongst our members and their clubs in relation to the governments review of business rates, which as it stands will result in a considerable and unsustainable increase for many.
There has been some promise however, with what appears to be a ‘u-turn’ for pubs and restaurants and we are informed that this may now lead to a wider review of the leisure and hospitality sector as a whole.
A recent meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Golf (APPGG) provided some reassurance that actions are being taken to put together an effective appeal to Government, if indeed this is required. At this stage, we are advised to wait until the outcome of the reviews that are already underway, following the successful lobbying of the pub sector.
In the meantime, if you would like to consider further and more immediate action, then it is advised to contact your local MP.
We will provide further updates as soon as we have any more information and will of course continue to work with industry colleagues and the APPGG to try and secure a positive outcome.
