Last week, the GCMA Advanced Management Certificate in Employment Law saw an energising and insightful two-day programme at The Kendleshire.
The GCMA Advanced Management Certificate in Employment Law is a specialised professional development programme designed to equip golf club managers and senior club staff with practical skills and knowledge to manage employment law effectively within their organisations. Here’s a wrap up of what our delegates learned during the 2 day course.
Day 1: Immersive, Interactive, Insightful

Delegates began the programme with a highly interactive deep dive into the realities of employment law within golf club management. Through real-life case studies directly connected to challenges in their own roles, participants explored key legal principles in a collaborative and engaging environment.
The level of openness, discussion, and shared experience helped create a vibrant learning atmosphere, one that balanced practical guidance with lively conversation. As day one ended, delegates continued exchanging ideas and best practice over dinner, strengthening connections and building a supportive peer network.

Day 2: Practical Application and Real-World Context
Day two took delegates even further into the practical application of employment law. Morning sessions covered essential topics such as investigations, disciplinaries, formal grievances, CCTV usage, subject access requests, and staff breaks, all grounded in real-world scenarios commonly faced by golf clubs.
A festive Turkey Christmas Lunch, provided a welcome opportunity for continued conversation and peer learning, thanks to the warm hospitality of our hosts at The Kendleshire.
The afternoon focused on an in-depth exploration of Employment Tribunals: what they involve, what they mean in practice, and what clubs need to understand when preparing for or responding to one. Delegates then concluded the programme by working through group case studies, applying the knowledge gained across both days in a practical and collaborative format.

A huge thank you to Highfield HR and their expert trainers James Dalton and Leanne Yau, for their clarity, insight, and real-world guidance throughout the programme.

Last week’s certificate in Employment Law also saw two delegates, Richard Beech and Chloe Boissel-Marshall complete their Advanced Management Award in Finance, Compliance and Risk Management. Having completed the following courses:
