Frilford Heath has completed a £1.5m investment in its clubhouse and courses, with Managing Director Russell Stebbings highlighting sustainability, quality and new commercial opportunities.
Managing Director Russell Stebbings says Frilford Heath now “delivers on every level” after the completion of a £1.5 million investment programme that has transformed the clubhouse and enhanced all three championship courses.
As a 54-hole heathland estate with a proud history of hosting major tournaments, including Open Regional Qualifying, Frilford Heath has long been recognised as one of England’s premier venues.
This latest project reflects the club’s ambition not only to maintain that standing but also to broaden its appeal to members, visitors and the wider business community.
Stebbings has overseen improvements designed to strike a balance between playing standards, hospitality and commercial opportunity. At the heart of the development is a refurbished clubhouse with a new 18-seat boardroom, purpose-built to attract meetings and corporate events. Featuring flatscreen presentation facilities, in-room refreshments and support from the food and beverage team, it creates an additional revenue stream while strengthening the club’s position as a hub for both golf and business.

“This latest investment reflects our long-term vision to deliver a truly unique offering in English golf,” said Stebbings.
“We are proud to be a 54-hole heathland golf estate where quality, sustainability and hospitality go hand in hand. Whether you’re here to play, learn, relax or do business, we’ve created an environment that delivers on every level for members, guests and visitors.”
That vision is equally evident on the course. Significant renovation has been completed across all three championship layouts – the Red, Green and Blue – including the upgrading of every bunker on the estate. Such work ensures the playing experience remains consistent and tournament-ready, while also reducing maintenance challenges for the greenkeeping team.
Environmental sustainability has been a central focus of the project. A new TORO irrigation system has been installed on the Red Course, controlled via app to deliver precise water management. The system is already in operation on the Blue Course and is supported by the club’s own reservoir, underlining Frilford Heath’s commitment to resource efficiency and long-term resilience. Drainage improvements on the Blue Course are also scheduled, ensuring year-round playability and further strengthening turf health.
The approach taken at Frilford Heath highlights how major capital investment can serve multiple objectives – enhancing the member experience, safeguarding environmental standards, and creating new commercial opportunities. By aligning investment with long-term goals, Frilford Heath illustrates how clubs can secure their future and thrive amid the challenges facing the modern game.
