A new phase of development at Pleasington Golf Club is targeting course quality, infrastructure and the overall member and visitor experience.
Pleasington Golf Club in Lancashire has unveiled a £500,000 investment programme designed to enhance the experience for both members and visitors, marking the next phase in its ongoing development.
Building on the success of its previous five-year Good2Great initiative, the club is now launching its ‘Next Level’ project, an ambitious plan focused on elevating all aspects of the operation, from course conditioning to facilities and the overall on-site experience.
The programme has been shaped through extensive consultation, bringing together feedback from members, visitors and external specialists to define clear priorities for the next stage of the club’s progression.
General Manager Mark Bleasdale said the project reflects a collective vision informed by those closest to the club.
“Following extensive feedback from our members, visitors, agronomists and course assessors, we are proud to introduce the Next Level project,” he said.
“This initiative reflects the insights of our key stakeholders and sets out a clear vision to build on the outstanding experience that Pleasington already has on offer.”
At the core of the programme is a broad and structured approach to improvement. Planned enhancements to green complexes will focus on design, drainage and water management, supporting more consistent playing conditions and long-term resilience.

Course environment work will include the continued development of heather and gorse, alongside a considered approach to tree management, reinforcing the character of the heathland layout.
Investment in infrastructure will see the introduction of robotic mowers and upgrades to irrigation and drainage systems, aimed at improving efficiency and maintaining high standards of presentation.
Further improvements are planned across fairways, tees and pathways, while practice facilities will benefit from new grass tees, additional bunkering and upgraded putting greens.
Alongside these physical developments, the programme also places emphasis on people and management, with ongoing coaching, training and development forming a key part of the club’s long-term strategy.
The Next Level project arrives at a time of growing recognition for Pleasington, with recent inclusion in Golf World’s Top 200 Courses in England and Golf Monthly’s Top 200 Courses in the UK and Ireland strengthening its profile.
That visibility is translating into increased demand, particularly as golfers travel to the North West for The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. Groups from the United States, Italy, Denmark and Finland are among those pre-booking rounds at the club this summer.
Set against a distinctive heathland backdrop and within easy reach of the M6, Pleasington combines accessibility with a landscape that offers views across the Pennines, the Lakes and the Fylde Coast.
The Next Level programme is intended to ensure that the club continues to evolve in line with rising expectations, building on its existing strengths while delivering a more refined and consistent experience across every touchpoint.
