England team selection for 2025 international matches — your country needs you!

GCMA English Match Co-Ordinator Cameron Dawson has issued a plea for players to take part in England international matches this year.

Thank you to the 23 players who have made themselves available for selection as of January 23. I can fill most of the matches from this group, and within the criteria of the membership representative of Working/Retired, but it is always gratifying to have new faces and more working managers to select from.

We will be selecting the teams from those that have indicated availability during the last week of February, so if you are interested please let me know by the February 23 via email: GCMAMatch @gmail.com

Selection is open to all members of the GCMA. The level of ability is not the main selection requisite. We look for players who will engage with both home and away team members in the significant networking that inevitably is a major part of the matches.

We are gradually incorporating more of an educational aspect to each day in line with the hour prior to the daily match we already include in the Sweden match.

While the matches are very competitive, they are also a very social occasion. Players often arrive the day prior and leave the day after the matches.

The 2025 match schedule

  • Ireland (away) – Dromoland Castle Co Clare (May 11 & 12)
  • Wales (away) – Newport (July 27 & 28)
  • Scotland (home) – Prince’s (August 17 & 18)
  • Sweden (home)* – Northwood/Sandy Lodge/Moor Park (September 9, 10 & 11)

*GCMA members from England, Scotland, Ireland & Wales are invited to apply. September 9 date is optional.

I will be collecting these details during January/February and incoming Captain Ray Grant and myself will be making the selections and informing players in late February/early March.
