Association Chief Executive Tom Brooke reminds you of some of the new member services coming on stream this year... What a year 2021 was! The difficulties and challenging circumstances of the pandemic have, of course, continued to dominate our lives, but golf as an industry has certainly benefitted and we’ve witnessed a huge increase in participation and membership over the past 18 months. Whilst it has without doubt been extremely stressful for us all, I do hope for you personally, that you are able to look back on 2021 with a great sense of achievement. The role that Golf Club Managers have continued to play at their golf clubs and within local communities, whilst taking a lead role in supporting the growth in participation of our sport, is hugely admirable and I am extremely proud to be representing you and representing our profession. For the GCMA, we are continuing to develop as an association as we strive to enhance our service offering and support for you, not only professionally, but also personally. We made some great progress in 2021 with the launch of a number of new member benefits and professional development services, we’re seeing a growth in membership of the association and we’re taking some positive steps towards growing our profile within the industry. New Professional Development Services for 2022 Following a series of member surveys and responding to your feedback throughout 2021, I am also delighted to announce a number of new initiatives and member benefits for 2022, all of which are a result of listening to you, our members, and serving your needs: EDUCATION DAYS In addition to our very popular and long established regional meetings and events, we will soon be announcing dates for your diary in 2022 for a series of single day education events. These events will be designed to focus on key, current subject areas in Golf Club Management, as well as continuing to support leadership development and wellbeing. GCMA MENTOR We’re extremely proud to have announced this new and innovative industry leading project. We recently welcomed our first team of new GCMA Mentors, all of whom are current, highly respected and high achieving Golf Club Managers from within our association, who will now be working with us to support and develop the next generation of industry professionals as part of our professional and personal development programme. If you’re an aspiring Club Manager, or keen to develop your skills within the industry, come and talk to us to find out more about becoming a GCMA Mentee and learn from the very best. GCMA CPD ACCREDITATION In 2022, we will be publishing details of our new CPD Accreditation programme, giving all GCMA members the opportunity to be formally accredited by the association as recognition of your ongoing commitment to professional and personal development, as well as acknowledging prior experience and achievement within the industry. This is going to be a significant development for our association and providing Golf Club Managers with the opportunity to be recognised as they deserve to be.
