National Golf Day 2022 Results: Gilpin cleans up

The 2022 GCMA National Golf Day was hosted by The Caversham, the new home of Reading Golf Club, on July 28.

Old Ford Manor’s Nathan Gilpin took the spoils in the impressive surroundings of The Caversham for the GCMA National Golf Day.

Playing in markedly better conditions than the field faced in 2021, he claimed both the Greenshields Memorial Trophy and the Foundation Cup.

His gross 74 saw him home by two shots from Louis Matemala, with last year’s runner up Ian Slater one shot further back in third.

Gilpin’s nett 72 – made all the more impressive for having started with a double bogey at the first – also saw him take home the Foundation Cup for a clean sweep.

Runner up Geoff Johnson can count himself unlucky having missed out on countback, with GCMA National Captain Terry Jackson in third place with a nett 74.

This year’s GCMA National Golf Day proved to be a thoroughly enjoyable day for all players, and we look forward to welcoming attendees again next year.
