The latest webinar honed in on the findings of a groundbreaking research project into the software technology landscape for golf clubs.
Jake Rhodes from Golf Genius discussed the groundbreaking insights revealed by the recent Golf Club Software Technology Report during the latest webinar.
Commissioned in July 2024 by the GCMA, The Golf Club Secretary, Scottish Golf Club Managers Association (SGCMA), UK Golf Federation (UKGF) and Club Management Association of Ireland (CMAI), the research project surveyed 134 golf club managers on various aspects relating to the use and performance of software technology at their clubs.
The survey was developed by golf survey and insights specialists, Players 1st, in consultation with Golf Genius representatives, a leading independent software vendor (ISV) in the UK&I as well as other international markets.

The findings were eye-opening: club managers are increasingly seeking efficiency, enhanced member experiences, and innovative solutions that go beyond traditional one-size-fits-all approaches.
Key revelations showed that managers are no longer satisfied with single, comprehensive systems. Instead, they’re embracing a more flexible ecosystem of specialist software providers that can integrate seamlessly.
The research highlighted significant gaps between the importance of various software modules and managers’ current satisfaction levels. Accountancy and reporting emerged as the strongest performing area, while membership management showed the most room for improvement.
Interestingly, the survey revealed that implementation of new systems typically takes seven to eight months — a significant commitment for any club.
The webinar emphasised that technology should ultimately serve three primary goals: improving operational efficiency, elevating member experiences, and potentially increasing revenue.

The survey isn’t just a snapshot of current technology, but a roadmap for the future. With an upcoming audit tool and comprehensive white paper, the GCMA and Golf Genius are empowering managers to make informed decisions about their digital infrastructure.
For golf clubs navigating the complex world of management software, the message is clear: adaptability, integration, and a focus on member experience are the new benchmarks of success.
